Kwara subsidized Mechanised tools for Farmers

The Kwara State Government has concluded plans to make available Mechanised Tools (Tractors) for farmers at a subsidized fee. This was revealed by the Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Afolabi Adenike Afolabi-Oshatimehin at the Final Day of the unveiling of 2020 Cropping Season for farmers in Kwara. The event which was held in Oke Oyi, Ilorin East LGA brought farmers and experts together to the field in a bid to demonstrate the support of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration for the Agricultural Sector.

"The aim of the flag off is to enable farmers shift from the subsistence farming to the modern farming techniques. Which will create room for industrialization around the Agric business." Mrs Afolabi-Oshatimehin remarked.

The event was also used to showcase some of the  tractors that are ready to be used by farmers at subsidize rate of #10,000 per operation on every hectare of land. This was designed to ease the stress of farmers in the state as well as to bring agricultural surplus to the state.

The Commissioner also encouraged local and young farmers to take advantage of this opportunity to promote farming in the state.

The kwara state government is focusing on how to reduce the cost of production for farmers. This will done through the creation of access to farm inputs at subsidize rate at the State Agro Mall and availability of Agric extension officers who will guide farmers on how to maximize food production.

She further encouraged farmers to always work in synergy with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development so that they can tap from the numerous Agricultural opportunities of the Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration.

The flag off of the 2020 cropping season kick started in Alateko in Moro LGA (Kwara North) on 20th of May 2020 and was also done in Ajase Ipo (Kwara South) on 22nd of May before it was completed in Oke Oyi ( Kwara Central) today.
