Heavy Down Pour Storm Ilorin, Destroyed several Houses - community cries out, call for government assistance. Yesterday, it was a rainy experience for people within Ilorin metropolis as rain stormed the city and selectively destroyed several properties. The rainy experience was not favorable. The SATCOMMEDIA learnt that the rainstorm that occurred on Saturday night also displaced many people at Oke Ogun community, in Edun, Idiagbon community, in Emirs road, Isale-Gambari among other affected areas. Though no lives were lost in the incident. An eyewitness from the community affirmed the incident and call on government for assistance, as many people left were devastated with little or without hope of assistance from any quarters. He however, further stressed that, any assistance for non-governmental organizations would go along way in restoring the lost hope and further placed them back to normal life.

Kwara inaugurates COVID-19 Youth Rescue Team.

Yesterday, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Joana Nnazua Kolo who was in the capacity as the Chief Host as well as the Representative of Her Excellency, Dr Folake AbdulRasaq during the Inauguration of the COVID-19 Youth Rescue Team at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development Conference Hall.

In order to contain the widespread of the pandemic, the Kwara State Government in collaboration with the National Youths' Council of Nigeria inaugurated the COVID-19 Kwara Youth Response Team.

Parts of the roles of the team are but not limited to; monitoring borders, awareness and sensitization to markets, distribution of palliatives to the society and partnership with Communities and traditional rulers.

Honourable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mrs Joana Nnazua Kolo opinionated that youths have multifaceted roles to play in driving the state to another greater heights. In her statement, Mrs Kolo described the youth as the backbone of the state and national development whereby, they are the catalyst for the progress and development of the state.

She reiterated that, the birth of COVID-19 Kwara Youth Response Team is a welcome Initiative by the state government and positioned at the right time in a right course to expunge the scourge ravaging the state and the globe to forever extinction.

The Committee members inaugurated were; Come. Bamikole Oladele (Chairman), Comr. Arinde Olusola Gabriel (Secretary) Comr. Abdul-Lateef, Comr. Fawoye Hope Olaitan, Bar. Soliu Ismail, Comr. Adeoye Adedotin Adeola. 

Others members include, Comr. Yinka Daramola, Comr. Afolabi Not Abosede, Comr. Abdullahi Yusuf, Comr. Jimoh S. AbdulGaniyu, Comr. Ayinde Wahab, Mrs Olukemi Sanni (NTA) and Mr Toyin Saheed (Sobi FM).

In attendance where His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Kwara State ably represented by Dr Michael Oluwatoye, The Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker ably represented by the Deputy Speaker Hon Adetiba, New Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Bar. Iyabo Banire, the Director of Youth Development, Alhaja Aishat Mohammed, the Chairman, Deputy Director, Youth Development, Mr Abdul-Hakeem Abdus-Sallam and also Kwara State Chapter of the National Youths' Council of Nigeria, Comr. Alli Nasir Yusuf and others.
