Heavy Down Pour Storm Ilorin, Destroyed several Houses - community cries out, call for government assistance. Yesterday, it was a rainy experience for people within Ilorin metropolis as rain stormed the city and selectively destroyed several properties. The rainy experience was not favorable. The SATCOMMEDIA learnt that the rainstorm that occurred on Saturday night also displaced many people at Oke Ogun community, in Edun, Idiagbon community, in Emirs road, Isale-Gambari among other affected areas. Though no lives were lost in the incident. An eyewitness from the community affirmed the incident and call on government for assistance, as many people left were devastated with little or without hope of assistance from any quarters. He however, further stressed that, any assistance for non-governmental organizations would go along way in restoring the lost hope and further placed them back to normal life.
The Honourable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Kwara State, Mrs Joana Nnazua Kolo has inaugurated a women based forum that intends to give solidarity to the Government of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and a medium for women to achieve the dividend of democracy.
AA Women Forum Edu Local Government Branch was birthed with giving strength to the women in Kwara State towards participation in governance and benefiting from the Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq led Administration.
In his remarks, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq emphasised on the Importance of women in the society most especially, in politics.
The Governor ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alh Mamman Saba Jubril described women as special humans who have empathy and compassion for the humanity and they have taken the lead with perseverance during and after the electioneering.
Meanwhile, The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr Kayode Alabi ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Social Development, Mrs Aremu Abosede Deborah appreciated the giant step taken by the Honourable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development in bringing women together to form a formidable league towards ensuring dividend of democracy gets to all and sundry across the State. Mrs Deborah thence, encouraged the members to be in unity and be committed in order to achieve a common goal.
Prior to that, The founder, Honourable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development - Mrs Joana Nnazua Kolo, in her opening remarks said, "Women play important roles in the nation, communities and homes. Unfortunately, in the past, women's contribution were not adequately acknowledged or appreciated in the society."
This will serve as a forum for discussion, exchange of information and ideas on how to promote the programs and policies of this Government through a formidable structure and ensuring empowerment of women in Edu and the state in general." Said, Mrs Joana Kolo.
Several dignitaries were in attendance, Hon.Comm. For Special Duties; Mrs Oyedun Juhana Funke, Hon. Comm. For Environment; Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen, Hon.Comm. For Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Hajjia Aisha Ahman Pategi represented by Mrs Fatima Jiya, Alhaja Aishat Ismail Bolanle; SA Women Empowerment, Rev. Dr S.O Adedayo; SA Religion, Alhaji Saadudeen Salahudeen - SA Political ably represented by Dr Saad Kayode Yunus.
Others include, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Youth Development; Barr.(Mrs) Iyabo Funke Banire, Permanent Secretary of Civil Service Commission, Mall Goshi Jiya and many others.

The Local Government Coordinator, Mrs Mamman Khadijat appreciated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led Administration for giving Women more Privilege to participate in the governance and pledge solidarity and Innovative ideas to assist the Government. This occasion should have been graced by fun-fare in further demonstration of our joy for giving us this young and promising community mobilizer (Mrs Joana Nnazua Kolo) in your Government in the history of the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof Maaman Suba Jubril who represented the Executive Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq officially Inaugurated the Forum and Pledge the support of the Government to enhance more women Participation in the governance, hence charged them to uphold unity and transparency.
