Heavy Down Pour Storm Ilorin, Destroyed several Houses - community cries out, call for government assistance. Yesterday, it was a rainy experience for people within Ilorin metropolis as rain stormed the city and selectively destroyed several properties. The rainy experience was not favorable. The SATCOMMEDIA learnt that the rainstorm that occurred on Saturday night also displaced many people at Oke Ogun community, in Edun, Idiagbon community, in Emirs road, Isale-Gambari among other affected areas. Though no lives were lost in the incident. An eyewitness from the community affirmed the incident and call on government for assistance, as many people left were devastated with little or without hope of assistance from any quarters. He however, further stressed that, any assistance for non-governmental organizations would go along way in restoring the lost hope and further placed them back to normal life.

Preamble: This piece is motivated by the impactful session the writer had with the CEO of Brain Builders International, OLASUPO ABIDEEN OPEYEMI.

Mentoring is a life time Relationship. Even if we are not together, we will still have many things to do. It is a 50-50 Relationship, a meaningful, impactful and healthy mentorship embraces building each other or one another, together.

In human life, there will be a time the whole world will look shrink and non-conducive for you, one will tend to think extreme; not necessarily to proffer solutions to the teeming palaver, but another from-frying pan-to-fire scenario.

Certainly, there are three (3) categories of people around you, in concise. These people might be distant or immediate, the reality is, they exist in your life.

Category 1.

Those who wish you should not make it in life.

These people are silent evils in your life, whether suspicious or auspicious, you will have to deal with them. Whenever you achieve small wins and you are prompted to jubilate, even your invisible smile is Hallmark of sadness and pain to their lives.

They hardly see good things in you. As you are burning candles and losing counts on days and nights of sleeplessness due to working hard in self development, their prayer point and focus is for you to crumble.

They are real!

Category 2.

Those who wish you are successful but not upto them or limit.

In your quest to succeed, you have promised to unleash all you have to to beat all records set by your ancestors. You have made a pledge to reinvent your endowment on breaking seemingly impossible mark.

You have exhorted to assume full responsibility for your life, pay attention to the inner conversation and demanded to work actively on your dreams and vision.

There are people who really want that for you; they encourage you to be walking while others are crawling, to be running while others are walking and to be standing whenever your contemporaries are sitting.

They have set a limit.

The moment you begin to be outstanding when others are standing or even living beyond frailties by flying across the space. Therein, you become a subject of discuss. They turned out to be bitter enemies and started looking for ways to fight you emotionally, physically and spiritually.

Be careful, they exist.

Category 3.

Those who want you to be successful even at the expense of their energy.

Here are the last group of people, not even necessarily from the family circle, they are divine intervention in human skin. The moment they notice your turbulent shooting to greatness, they key in your growth and development.

They pray for you silently, they give you their shoulders for you to lean on and they refine and redefine your purpose to achieve clarity.

You will be charged to deal with Fears and Failure. Your life will remain the same not. Never!

Let me buttress this with a scenario...

A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items on the table in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2 inches in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up the remaining open areas of the jar.

He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “Yes.”

“Now,” said the professor, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things – your family, your partner, your health, your children – things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter – like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else, the small stuff.”

“If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, words from frailed hearts, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party, or fix the disposal.”

“Take care of the rocks first – the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”

Pledge to work on your conviction. Keep closer to the people who fall into the category 3 of this piece; they are lights can help spot your own light and be in SPOTLIGHT
