Heavy Down Pour Storm Ilorin, Destroyed several Houses - community cries out, call for government assistance. Yesterday, it was a rainy experience for people within Ilorin metropolis as rain stormed the city and selectively destroyed several properties. The rainy experience was not favorable. The SATCOMMEDIA learnt that the rainstorm that occurred on Saturday night also displaced many people at Oke Ogun community, in Edun, Idiagbon community, in Emirs road, Isale-Gambari among other affected areas. Though no lives were lost in the incident. An eyewitness from the community affirmed the incident and call on government for assistance, as many people left were devastated with little or without hope of assistance from any quarters. He however, further stressed that, any assistance for non-governmental organizations would go along way in restoring the lost hope and further placed them back to normal life.

A NEW DAWN IN KWARA

The National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS), National Headquarters rejoiced with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq on his one year anniversary in office as the executive governor of the state. 

In a congratulatory remark jointly signed by the Association's President, Comr. Adisa-Jaji Azeez and the Director of Public Relations, Abdulmumeen Abubakar, the association which is the apex student body saddled with the responsibility of promoting the interest of all Kwarans schooling across the federation and in diaspora commend the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq in giving life back to education in the state. 

It will be on the record that Governor AbdulRahman in just a span of one year, paid 700 million seven months salary owed by the past administration to the Colleges of Education, disbursement of bursary to 8,304 final year students who are Kwarans in tertiary institutions across the country, and scholarship of N100,000 given to 179 students of Kwara origin in law schools across the country among others. 

Also, in his bid to reposition the education sector in the state and prepare the youths for a brighter future built on innovative skills and opportunities to be among the best in the country, he renovated the Kwara State Library Complex which will be used as a launchpad for e-learning. 

No doubt, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq have plans for the education sector and he ascended the seat prepared in tackling the menace facing the sector. A great relief to students of Kwara origin are not left behind in Kwara talk of today.

Also going by your achievements in other sectors like Health, Social Intervention Programmes for masses, construction of roads, we can't but say, Kwara is already on its way to new rebuild. The construction of Kwara State College of Education's road is a show of how responsive you are as a leader after the road has been in a terrible state for long resulting to hardship for the people plying the route on a daily basis. 

It is our prayer for the executive governor that has he celebrate his one year in the office, may he be guide and guard by Almighty God in taking Kwara to greater heights and may he have a fruitful year ahead as he continues to be the leader of our dear state.

It is also our prayer that you continue on the right path you have built your government on over the time and may you never deviate from taking responsibility for the citizens.
