The Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State, has described Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s one year in office as utterly disappointing, uninspiring and a colossal waste, saying that “the euphoria that greeted the coming of the present administration has waned significantly.”

“The Governor's performance has been utterly disappointing, uninspiring and a colossal waste. This explains Kwarans' growing disillusionment with this…

Like Gaius Augustus of Roman Empire, Like AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq one year in office; A Sociological Evaluation By Abdulrauf Taofeeq Alada

Gaius Octavius Augustus was a Roman statesman and military leader who became the Emperor of an empire that reigned between 27BC and 14AD. Octavius Augustus successfully led Rome's transformation from Republic to Empire during the tumultuous years. The little Gaius became famous for his excellent eyes and approach for effective governance by successfully initiating and restoring the outward facade of the Roman Empire with enduring and long lasting legacy. In ancient times, Gaius was one of the rulers with with many praises and few blames.
This day last year, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq after becoming victorious at the poll, took the oath of office, there by made him 7th democratic elected Governor of North Central State, Kwara.
Before the time, every structuration either human or physical was seen in absolute deterioration, thus gave great indication about what new helmsman should see as herculean to make outstanding changes in a very short while.
Even then, many people were being ske…

AbdulRazaq’s One Year in Office: A Moment above Post-election Dissonance – Yahaya Seriki, CEO, Kursi Investments Ltd.

On this exact day one year ago, the baton of leadership of Kwara state was passed to HE AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq after a resounding victory at the poll. I am eternally glad to be part of that revolutionary and historical moment.
When AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq took his vows and promised to set the state’s governance vessel on a reasonable course, the people of Kwara state and, indeed, the whole nation looked forward in eagerness to see whether the man will deliver on his promises. Today makes it a year since those holy vows were made, and I shall hereby attempt my own examination of his leadership within that period.
Given that he took over on the promises of taking Kwara out of economic backwater; uprooting corruption; eliminating poverty; turning Kwara to a hotbed for entrepreneurship; making Kwara a tech oasis; reshaping the overall cognitive orientations of our people to commensurate and keep up with a fast pacing world; entrenching gender equality; making quality education available for…

When we decided to change our trajectory; One Year after by Aluko Ahmad

WHEN WE DECIDED TO CHANGE OUR TRAJECTORY; ONE YEAR AFTER! BY ALUKO AHMAD
When we all marched to the poll on the 4th of March, 2019; for the progressives and forward thinking Kwarans, we knew what we wanted, we knew the kind of leadership we needed, it was beyond a party affair, family pedigree or cheap publicity. We wanted a Kwara governed by a true Kwaran, with a successful individual track record, that would deliver the dividend of democracy, hitherto denied Kwarans.
When we all trouped out enmasse to vote for the candidate of our choice, we knew what had happened in the past, what is happening and what is expected to happen (to our dear state) in the future. We knew those we started with, those whom we were at par when we were created in May 1967. We knew those who meant well for the state, those who turned the trajectory and brought the progress recorded so far to a halt, we knew those who meant well for the development of the state and those who never had any good motive for our …

[ICYMI]: Telecommunication, a lucrative business in Kwara By Oluwatoyin Luqman Bolakale

Telecommunication, a lucrative business in Kwara by Oluwatoyin Luqman Bolakale
December 19, 2019 Before the emergence of the Internet and other data networks, telecommunications had a clear meaning: the telephone (and earlier the telegraph) was an application of technology that allowed people to communicate at a distance by voice (and earlier by encoded electronic signals), and telephone service was provided by the public switched telephone network (PSTN). Much of the U.S. network was owned and operated by American Telephone & Telegraph (AT&T); the rest consisted of smaller independent companies, including some served by GTE.
Then in the 1960s, facsimile and data services were overlaid on the PSTN, adding the ability to communicate documents and data at a distance—applications still considered telecommunications because they enabled new kinds of communication at a distance that were also carried over the PSTN. More recently, of course, communication at a distance has expanded to …

Ubandawaki Ward Youths speaks on recent retrieval of Appointment by Kwara Gov't.

Ubandawaki ward youths speaks on the recent retrieval of appointment by Kwara state Government from the ward, in an opinion post made available to Satcommedia, by Saleeman Muslim and Sultan Alaya,  The post reads in part "Silence they say speaks a thousand words and a silent one is not a fool or a coward.
To speak a few of the darkness, I feel it is high time we called on the Governor and other concerned stakeholders to retrace a derailing step by bringing back to rail the great Ubandawaki Ward.
As a matter of fact, UBANDAWAKI APC stood and still stands firmly for progress and leaving her to wander the corridors of power will be quite demeaning despite her roles in the liberation struggles.
Delving into the political history of the ward, the last political order compensated her with series of appointments ranging from Secretary to the State Government, ministerial appointments, Special Advisers, Commissioners, membership and chairmanship of agency boards, Governing council membersh…

[OPINION]: Kwara, AbdulRazaq and things less talked about By Rafiu Ajakaye

A few hours away from now, the media would be awash with appraisals of chief executives across Nigeria. This is particularly true of first term governors who were sworn in on May 29, 2019. Kwara will not be different. Friends and foes of the administration of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, egged on by closet admirers on both sides, would struggle to shape the narrative in an endless battle for the mind of the people.  Kwara is a peculiar terrain. The past 12 months have been very eventful. Going by available resources, no fair-minded person will rate the AbdulRazaq administration below 70 percent in critical and impactful interventions across sectors: education, public health, youths and sports, agriculture, water, and road — all of which have got huge investments (as I attempted to chronicle in my *'AbdulRazaq and 365 days of impactful governance in Kwara'*). The icing on the cake is its light-speed response to public yearnings.  But equally significant as the giant, people-centric st…

[OPINION]: And a Pitch To Grow An Inch: Hajia Raliat Amope Moyosore AbdulRasaq, A Nonagenarian We Celebrated in Ilorin and Kwara State of Harmony On The Occasion of Her D-Day by Arikewuyo Kawata

And a Pitch To Grow An Inch: Hajia Raliat Amope Moyosore AbdulRasaq, A Nonagenarian We Celebrated in Ilorin and Kwara State of Harmony On The Occasion of Her D-Day.

Many years of Baptism Day had come and gone for the Mother of our State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq but in happiness, the one which makes her to clock 90 is a sacred fold in her life.  Hajia Raliat is a very good mother both at her paternal house in Oke-Apomu and maternal house in Lanwa District in Moro Local Government Area. Without doubt, Hajia is kind at her matrimony house and you can see glittering stars she produced as children enveloped by our current Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq who is her third born. It is in this piece I will correct history which had Ransom Kuti to be the first female to drive a car in Nigeria. Hajia was the first woman to drive a car in Ilorin, Kwara State and  Nigeria but as God will have it, she was not popular to the measure of Ransom Kuti but all the same…
