Yesterday, it was a rainy experience for people within Ilorin metropolis as rain stormed the city and selectively destroyed several properties. The rainy experience was not favorable. The SATCOMMEDIA learnt that the rainstorm that occurred on Saturday night also displaced many people at Oke Ogun community, in Edun, Idiagbon community, in Emirs road, Isale-Gambari among other affected areas. Though no lives were lost in the incident. An eyewitness from the community affirmed the incident and call on government for assistance, as many people left were devastated with little or without hope of assistance from any quarters. He however, further stressed that, any assistance for non-governmental organizations would go along way in restoring the lost hope and further placed them back to normal life.
The police in Lagos has detained controversial hip-hop artiste, Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley, for contravening the lockdown order imposed on Lagos State by President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country.
State police spokesman Bala Elkana in a statement said Naira Marley “will also be charged to court for violating the restriction orders.”
Elkana said the Command has launched a manhunt for the remaining persons who attended the party.
Nollywood star Funke Akindele over the weekend hosted a crowd of more than 20 people, despite the lock-down in the state, to celebrate her husband Abdul Rasheed Bello – popularly known as JJC Skillz.
She was arrested on Sunday and was subsequently charged to court with her husband on Monday.
The court found them guilty and subsequently convicted them. They were sentenced to pay a fine of 100,000 each, and 14 days community service; three hours per day, excluding Saturday and Sunday.
Each convict shall visit 10 important public places within Lagos State to educate the public on the consequences of non-compliance with the restriction order; and they must submit the names and phone numbers of every person who attended the party.
They shall be placed on isolation by the State Government to determine their COVID-19 status. Failure to abide by the above directives shall attract more severe punishments, the court ruled.
