Heavy Down Pour Storm Ilorin, Destroyed several Houses

Yesterday, it was a rainy experience for people within Ilorin metropolis as rain stormed the city and selectively destroyed several properties. The rainy experience was not favorable.
The SATCOMMEDIA learnt that the rainstorm that occurred on Saturday night also displaced many people at Oke Ogun community, in Edun, Idiagbon community, in Emirs road, Isale-Gambari among other affected areas.
Though no lives were lost in the incident.
An eyewitness from the community affirmed the incident and call on government for assistance, as many people left were devastated with little or without hope of assistance from any quarters.
He however, further stressed that, any assistance for non-governmental organizations would go along way in restoring the lost hope and further placed them back to normal life.

The entire Local Government felt the impact of the palliative which was monetized by the government in response to the request by their political leaders as the best option for their peculiarity as farmers and the difficult terrain of the area in terms of mobility.

Speaking with newsmen this morning (12/04/2020), the state Commissioner for Environment Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen FNIA under whose watch the distribution was made as coordinated by the two members of the State House of Assembly Hon. Saidu Baba Ahmed and Hon. Abdullahi Halidu Danbaba conveyed the appreciation of the people which includes: traditional and religious leaders, politicians, and various associations to His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazak and his government.

The N20m which was shared on an agreed upon formula saw each of the 56 polling units taking away N250,000.00k each amounting to a total of N14m. Various amounts between N200,000.00k to N50,000.00k went to not less than ten identified associations such as Okada riders, Keke Napep riders, artisans, Joint Associations of Kaiama and others including religious associations like CAN and FOMWAN.

Traditional rulers under the leadership of His Royal Highness the Emir of Kaiama also benefitted from the palliative to cater for their subjects, this is in addition to over 60 identified individuals across political party lines who are leaders in their own rights also got various sums of money to cushion the effect of the lockdown on them and their dependants due to the pandemic.

The commissioner charged those responsible for the sharing at the unit levels to eschew party differences in identifying beneficiaries and to exhibit fairness for which APC as a party is known and to ensure that each household across the Loca Government benefits.

Responding through various speakers, the people thanked the governor of the state and his deputy for their kindness as well as the Senator representing Kwara North Umar Sadiq Sulaiman and the Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi for their wisdom and leadership in choosing the best option on their behalf to ensure that every one benefitted

In addition to showing their happiness, they assured the commissioner of their disciplinary mechanisms to deal with any form of corruption in the sharing process.

In conclusion, the beneficiaries thanked the Senator, the Commissioner and the two members of the Kwara State House of Assembly for delivering the message intact from the government of Kwara State.
