Heavy Down Pour Storm Ilorin, Destroyed several Houses - community cries out, call for government assistance. Yesterday, it was a rainy experience for people within Ilorin metropolis as rain stormed the city and selectively destroyed several properties. The rainy experience was not favorable. The SATCOMMEDIA learnt that the rainstorm that occurred on Saturday night also displaced many people at Oke Ogun community, in Edun, Idiagbon community, in Emirs road, Isale-Gambari among other affected areas. Though no lives were lost in the incident. An eyewitness from the community affirmed the incident and call on government for assistance, as many people left were devastated with little or without hope of assistance from any quarters. He however, further stressed that, any assistance for non-governmental organizations would go along way in restoring the lost hope and further placed them back to normal life.

Kwara Government Set to prosecutes Violator of Lockdown

Kwara State Government on Sunday repeated that vehicular movements are restricted only to trucks ferrying foods and drugs, saying private and other commercial vehicles are barred and risk being arrested and prosecuted if found on the road. The Chief of staff to President Muhammad Buhari, Alhaji Abba Kyari is dead. The presidency announced his death early on Saturday, saying he died after contracting coronavirus. According to a statement by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the president on media and publicity, “The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari on Saturday morning. The Kwara State government has reversed the earlier decision adopted for vehicular movement in the state from 10am to 2pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays in the state. COVID-19: Nigeria has 318 confirmed cases, 13 New and 10 dealths.

As at 9:30pm on the 11th of April 2020, 13 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria. Till date, 318 cases have been confirmed, 70 cases have been discharged and 10 deaths have been recorded, according to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The 13 new cases are reported from three states – Lagos (11), Delta (1), Kano (1). A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.

COVID-19: Kwara State records two cases of Coronavirus

The Kwara State Government has confirmed two cases of Coronavirus in the state. T his was announced in a statement by Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, who also doubles as spokesperson for the technical committee on COVID-19, Rafiu Ajakaye. This is coming days after the index case of the virus died. The state government however, denied the index case. One of the two cases recorded include wife of the index case while the second person is a returnee from the United Kingdom. "Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19 sadly confirms two separate cases of COVID-19 in the state. "One is the wife of the UITH patient, a UK returnee, who died last Thursday and the other is another UK returnee," the statement read. The government is set to address residents of the state on measures to be taken to tackle the spread of the virus.

Kwara State Government has converted the Sobi Specialist Hospital to Isolation Center, This was reported in a pres statement made available to Satcom Media by Mr. Fafoluyi Olayinka M. Solace, SA, New Media to the Kwara State Governor. The statement reads "TheKwara State Government ably led by Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq with high-level of preparedness and preventiveness against the spread of COVID-19 in the state, has taken another bold step to convert the entirety of Sobi Specialist Hospital, Ilorin to Kwara Isolation Centre. No lincence issued for 5G technology in Nigeria- Pantami

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, on Saturday said no licence has been issued for 5G in Nigeria The Minister’s comment comes amid rumors circulating on social media that 5G technology causes COVID-19, the coronavirus disease that has put most of the world on hold. In a statement obtained by Channels TV, Pantami said the President Muhammadu Buhari administration will never seek technological advancement at the expense of the health and welfare of its citizens.
