Heavy Down Pour Storm Ilorin, Destroyed several Houses - community cries out, call for government assistance. Yesterday, it was a rainy experience for people within Ilorin metropolis as rain stormed the city and selectively destroyed several properties. The rainy experience was not favorable. The SATCOMMEDIA learnt that the rainstorm that occurred on Saturday night also displaced many people at Oke Ogun community, in Edun, Idiagbon community, in Emirs road, Isale-Gambari among other affected areas. Though no lives were lost in the incident. An eyewitness from the community affirmed the incident and call on government for assistance, as many people left were devastated with little or without hope of assistance from any quarters. He however, further stressed that, any assistance for non-governmental organizations would go along way in restoring the lost hope and further placed them back to normal life.

Names of Political parties and their Candidates for Patigi bye-election released by INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has released names of political parties and their candidates for Patigi bye-elections scheduled for March 14. The list was released in a statement signed by INEC Chairman, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye on Saturday. The parties and their nominated candidates are AAC, Sheu D Usman; APGA, Zubairu Musa; APC, Ahmed Rufai Adam; APM, Mohammed Aishetu; NNPP, Oladipo Benjamin; and the PDP, Mohammed Salihu Yahaya Meanwhile, The commission’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kwara State, Mallam Garba Attahiru-Madami, has assured the people of the Patigi Local Government Area that the commission would conduct a free and fair by-election into the vacant seat in the state House of Assembly. Oniyangi laments the deplorable condition of state's economy.

The gubernatorial candidate of the New Progressives Movement (NPM) in the last general elections in Kwara, Mallam Abdulazeez Yinka- Oniyangi has lamented the deplorable condition of the state’s economy, saying ‘ a lot had gone bad’ He, therefore, tasked governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq to roll off his sleeves and be ready to fix the economy.
