Heavy Down Pour Storm Ilorin, Destroyed several Houses - community cries out, call for government assistance. Yesterday, it was a rainy experience for people within Ilorin metropolis as rain stormed the city and selectively destroyed several properties. The rainy experience was not favorable. The SATCOMMEDIA learnt that the rainstorm that occurred on Saturday night also displaced many people at Oke Ogun community, in Edun, Idiagbon community, in Emirs road, Isale-Gambari among other affected areas. Though no lives were lost in the incident. An eyewitness from the community affirmed the incident and call on government for assistance, as many people left were devastated with little or without hope of assistance from any quarters. He however, further stressed that, any assistance for non-governmental organizations would go along way in restoring the lost hope and further placed them back to normal life.
ICAN Pays Courtesy Visit To Kwara Finance and Planning Commissioner
A Delegate of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) led by its District Chairman, Hon. Mohammed Baba Ibrahim today paid a congratulatory visit to Kwara State Commissioner For Finance and Planning, Mrs. Oyeyemi Olsumbo Florence, in her office.
The District Society of ICAN during the visit warmly congratulated the new Commissioner on her appointment, maintaining that designation was a worthy reward of her age-long diligence, professionalism and unequaled integrity.
In his address, Hon. Mohammed prayed God to afford her with the required skills, knowledge, wisdom and understanding that would help her to perfect the existent ills of the Ministry and make meaningful contributions to the socio-economic growth of the State.
"No wonder, this remarkable appointment is a great reward for your continual diligence, loyalty and integrity. I pray for God's guidance as you began to pilot the affairs of the noble Ministry", he added.
He commended the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman for deeming it fit to appoint a woman of such pedigree, praying God to provide him with adequate financial and intellectual resources bountiful enough to achieve the Kwara all and sundry have been yearning for.
In her remarks, Mrs. Oyeyemi expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman and the team for the august visit, assuring them of her resolute plans to always engage ICAN in the necessary programs and activities of the Ministry.
"The Ministry has concluded plans to always make collaborative engagements with this Institute to achieve favorable outputs, especially in the area of professionalism as I expect positive collaboration with the state. Hopefully, there would be a lot more to do together to improve the economic strength of the State of Harmony", she concluded.
